GRP PIPE BENEFITS

The advantages of GRP pipes are:

  • Light weight, where weight of GRP is only ¼th the weight of ductile iron pipe and is around 1/10th the weight of concrete pipe
  • Corrosion resistance, where GRP pipes are known for their long, effective service life, and they do not require any type of protection like cathodic protection, and hydraulic characteristics essentially remain unchanged over time.
  • Extremely smooth bore, where low friction loss means less pumping energy is needed, plus less slime build up can help in lowering the cleaning cost.
  • Low maintenance cost, where GRP pipes are easy to maintain because it does not rust, it is easily cleaned, and require minimal or no protection from environment.
  • Electric properties, GPP pipes are non-conductive. However, conductive pipes could be produced if electric conductivity is needed, in order to dissipate static electricity buildup when transporting certain fluids.
  • Long section of pipes, since pipe standard length could reach up to 12 m, where fewer joints are needed which reduces the installation time and cost.
  • Dimensional stability, where GRP pipes can maintain the critical tolerance required for the most demanding structural and piping application.
  • Material properties, where GRP pipes meets the most stringent requirements as far as chemical resistance and mechanical strength
  • Double bell coupling joints, that are manufactured using the same process and material. This type of coupling is easy for jointing two adjacent pipes which helps in reducing the installation cost, plus it is tight, efficiently designed to eliminate infiltration and ex-filtration plus it allows for flexible alignment, where minor change in line direction could be accommodated
  • Easy for alteration, where pipes could be cut and jointed to form any type of fittings, like elbows with any angle, Tee with different branches, reducers …. Moreover, pipes edges could be modified to suite other types of piping material or accessories.

GRP PIPE APPLICATION

GRP pipes could be used for:

  • Water transmission and distribution (potable and raw water)
  • Sanitary sewerage collection system (gravity flow and force main)
  • Storm water
  • Effluent water
  • Sea water intake and outfalls
  • Circulating cooling water, make-up and blowdown lines for power plants
  • Industrial application
  • Irrigation
  • Odor control piping
  • Oil field injection piping
  • Chemical process lines
  • Fire fighting lines
  • Ducting
  • Slip lining for piping rehabilitation
  • Insulated pipes for district cooling lines: core pipes a well as jacket.
